From roughly 2014 to 2016, my primary musical activity and obsession was pedal-processing and looping my guitar, and occasionally synthesizers, using a Boss RC-20XL. After using all the possible save space on the pedal, I would record onto my computer a few minutes of each loop being played out of a guitar amp, wipe the memory of the pedal, and then begin filling it again with more loops. Sometimes I would use them in a song, but more often they just existed unto themselves, never being used or heard by others.

The shortcomings of using a looper in composition and performance gradually became clear to me, and I ultimately stopped using any processing or looping of my guitar at all. What I'm left with is hundreds of these loops sitting in a folder on my computer, out of which I've selected 30 to compile here. For consistency and brevity, each one is looped five times.

It's difficult to determine what kind of music this is. Some sort of fragmented and demented bedroom-pop music, recorded in a fittingly lo-fi fashion, with discernible flavors of dank teenage angst and LSD.

Some of them I love very dearly, for personal reasons, but also because I think they are occasionally very strange and beautiful. I had no idea what I was doing.
